UV's Compendium

A reference hub that modernizes classic game knowledge for today's players.

The UV's Compendium home page: a dark interface with sidebar navigation and sections for references, calculators and guides.

The problem

Much of the classic Diablo I knowledge was written before multiplayer Hellfire was practical. Now that DevilutionX makes it common, older calculators and references often miss Hellfire's classes, items, affixes and vendors.

What does exist is scattered across PDFs, spreadsheets and forum posts.

The solution

One fast reference hub with five calculators (Item Price, Shop Qlvl, Premium Item Checker, Warrior Repair and Damage), curated guides and hosted reference documents.

A community layer lets approved members write and publish guides through a moderated workflow.

Key decisions

  • Lightweight custom PHP Each calculator is a standalone module. The same modules also appear on a combined page that builds its navigation automatically.
  • Accuracy first Game data is checked against sources and corrected where classic references were wrong. For example, Decay is treated as a Hellfire suffix, not the prefix listed in Jarulf's Guide.
  • No account required for the essentials Calculators and guides work for everyone. Community features sit alongside them without changing how they work.
  • Moderated, safe publishing Signup is protected by Turnstile, a honeypot and rate limits, with manual approval by default and optional two-factor authentication. Guides are written in Markdown and never render raw HTML, and every revision is kept with diffs.
  • Readable in any light A dark theme by default, plus a parchment light theme.

Outcome

Live at diablo.uvmaps.net with five calculators, curated guides and community publishing open for sign-ups.
